Why Employees Lack Motivation

Astute Managers must recognise and take corrective action to alleviate demotivation among their staff. The primary reasons employees are not motivated can be linked to one or more of the following factors:

  • Lack of motivating supervision
  • Poor management attitudes and behaviour
  • Apathetic or lethargic corporate culture
  • Lack of appreciation and recognition
  • Repetitive and boring jobs
  • Lack of job satisfaction
  • Unfair compensation programmes
  • Intolerable working conditions
  • Lack of career opportunities
  • Rejection by customers
  • Lack of quality training
  • Skills not suited to the job.
